JOHNSTON — Ryan Allen scored a career-high 21 points and Chariho High rolled past Johnston, 71-42, in a Division II boys basketball game Monday.
Allen, a junior forward, had 10 field goals and went 1 for 1 from the free-throw line as the Chargers dominated — they led 36-18 at halftime.
“I thought we did a great job in terms of defensive rebounding and denying on the wing,” coach Corey Downey said. “And Ryan Allen had a career basketball game. He was real active in transition and in finishing around the basket.”
Dylan LaBelle was 7 for 7 from the line and finished with 16 points for Chariho (14-7, 11-6 Division II). Luke Fusaro added 12 points, and Tom Longolucco had nine points and seven rebounds.
Dylan Durante led Johnston (3-19, 2-15) with 18 points.
The Chargers are currently ranked 18th in the state tournament power rankings (the top 16 qualify). They host Pilgrim on Tuesday night, their Senior Night, at 7 p.m.
