WOOD RIVER JCT. — Chariho High limited Tolman to 10 points in the second half and topped the Tigers, 56-29, Saturday in the preliminaries of the Division II girls basketball tournament.

Seventh-seeded Chariho only led by three points at the half, 22-19, but outscored No. 10 Tolman 34-10 thereafter.

“Our press really took them out of the game,” Chariho coach Tom Gilligan said. “We increased the pace of the game and made them tired. We were able to steal the ball and make layups.”

Kate Powers finished with 22 points and 12 rebounds for the Chargers. Spencer Shiels contributed 15 points and five assists, and Sydney Davis grabbed 16 rebounds.

Victoria Percy led Tolman (9-11) with nine points.

Chariho (16-7) travels to No. 2 Scituate for a quartefinal game on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
