Wrestling: Four individual champs lift Chargers to JV state championship

COVENTRY — Four Chariho High wrestlers won their weight classes as the Chargers captured the junior varsity state title Saturday at Coventry High.

Tanner Buck at 145 pounds, Nate Marchione (170), Levi Barrington (285) and Zach Jesuino (126) all finished first. Buck was 5-0, including a pin in the title bout. Marchione and Barrington were both 4-0, winning every bout with a pin. Jesuino was 3-0 and prevailed in the finals, 15-11.

Ryan Ahern was second at 160 pounds with a 2-1 record. Jeremy Ryan finished 4-1 and took third at 138. Collin Richmond was third at 195, going 2-1.

Chariho compiled 164 points in the JV event. Hendricken was second with 81.5.

In the freshman state tournament, James Dougherty took the title at 152 pounds with a 4-0 record. He had three pins on the day. Lance Delbonis (170) was second and Jackson Bridge (138) third.

Chariho finished sixth in the freshman team standings with 65 points. Hendricken won the title with 156.
