Boys basketball: Slow start costs Bears in loss at Ledyard

LEDYARD — Stonington High managed just 13 points in the first half and closed the regular season with a 55-33 loss to Ledyard in an out-of-division ECC boys basketball game Saturday.

Stonington (10-10) trailed 23-13 at the half. The Bears played well on the defensive end, but missed a number of open looks, according to coach John Luzzi.

R.J. Parrilla led Stonington with 13 points; Zach Scott finished with eight. Jacob Geary led the team in rebounds with seven.

Ken Turner was the top scorer for Ledyard (12-7) with 18 points.

Stonington will face host New London on Thursday at 7 p.m. in an ECC Division I tournament quarterfinal.
